Planning a trip to Glencoe, Scotland, can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding the best hotels.
Accommodation in Glencoe is spread around a surprisingly vast area, and where you stay can hugely influence your experience as a first-time visitor; choosing the right location is as essential as choosing the right hotel.
Thankfully, Glencoe offers many stylish hotels and charming accommodation options, spread between Glencoe village, neighbouring village Ballachulish, and more remote spots in the glen and along the waterfront.
For your first visit to Glencoe, I highly recommend choosing a boutique stay, somewhere with spectacular Highland views and cosy decor. These touches embody an authentic Highlands experience and make your stay so much more enjoyable.
As a Scottish native, I’ve visited Glencoe dozens of times, usually on a road trip. And I have a definitive list of Glencoe hotels you’ll love. In this guide, I’m sharing my top picks for where to stay in Glencoe, whether you’re looking for a hotel, luxury lodge, or cosy B&B.
Glencoe Hotels, Scotland: Top Picks & Quick Links
Short on time? These are my top picks for accommodation in Glencoe:
Luxury: Glencoe House Hotel
Boutique: Isles of Glencoe Hotel or Ballachulish Hotel.
Lodges: RiverBeds Luxury Lodges (stylish micro-lodges) or SeaBeds Luxury Cabins (spacious waterfront luxury lodges).
B&Bs: Ardno House B&B and Highland Croft B&B.
Holiday homes: Duart Cottage (sleeps 6), Oakwood Cottage (sleeps 7), Taigh Seonaig (sleeps 6) or The Boathouse (sleeps 4).
Breakdown of Glencoe’s areas
Glencoe’s accommodation is split mainly between two main areas: Glencoe village at the south end of Loch Leven and its neighbour, Ballachulish, at the north end.
Driving (or walking) between them is quick and easy, and each village offers stylish stays ranging from luxurious options to a wide variety of cosy guest houses and hostels. If you’re driving, this likely doesn’t significantly affect your choice of stay.
The biggest difference is the proximity to walks and amenities.
Glencoe Village is the starting point of the much-loved Glencoe Lochan walk and the iconic Pap of Glencoe hike. It’s the first stop after the famous glen with its incredible viewpoints, so it’s an excellent option for first-time visitors to Glencoe and outdoor fans alike.
Alternatively, Ballachulish is home to the area's only supermarket, an excellent patisserie, a friendly pub, a decent chip shop, and a few other amenities. Much like Glencoe, the scenery is breathtaking, and you’ll see the best view of the Pap of Glencoe from the waterfront.
Slightly further, you’ll find waterside stays in quiet and idyllic spots along Loch Linnhe. And one notable hotel in a remote location on Rannoch Moor.
No matter which village you choose, one of the most important things to consider when selecting your accommodation is where you’ll eat. The area has only a handful of restaurants, and the best Glencoe hotels offer unique and delicious dining experiences. If where you eat is important to your trip, factor this into your trip.

Best Hotels In Glencoe, Scotland
1. Isles of Glencoe Hotel
Nestled at the tip of Loch Leven, this boutique Glencoe hotel is a strong contender for “best view”.
Overlooking both the loch and Pap of Glencoe, it’s a truly breathtaking location. The private gardens are my favourite spot for a G&T on a sunny afternoon. The rooms are light and bright, with modern tones and heaps of space.
In addition, guests can relax in the bar, eat delicious, freshly prepared food in the restaurant, and enjoy the on-site swimming pool and sauna. This hotel in Glencoe is one to truly relax in after a day of exploring the Scottish Highlands.
2. Glencoe House Hotel
This luxury hotel in Glencoe offers five-star service and refined accommodation, with spectacular views of the loch and village. The suites are spacious and elegantly furnished, and best of all, dinner is served each night at your own candlelit dining table. Glencoe House Hotel is the perfect option for travellers seeking a tranquil atmosphere and a luxury experience.
3. The Ballachulish Hotel
With an enviable waterfront location overlooking some of the area’s best scenery, the Ballachulish Hotel is a cosy Glencoe hotel with heaps of character. Stay for stylish rooms, roaring fires, delicious seafood in the onsite restaurant, easy access to nearby walks, and Highland highlights like the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
4. RiverBeds Luxury Lodges
If you’re seeking a unique Glencoe stay with chic decor and gorgeous views, make a beeline for RiverBeds Luxury Lodges. We haven’t visited yet, but these gorgeous micro-lodges are high on my Highland bucket list.
These lodges are perfect for couples seeking an intimate stay and feature a host of modern amenities in the kitchen, en-suite bathrooms, and cosy decor. The real highlight, of course, is the hot tubs tucked away on your private deck, complete with river views and a magical forest canopy.
If you’d prefer a more spacious option, check out SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts. Ideal for longer breaks, these waterfront floating lodges offer the same boujee aesthetics, but with heaps more space.
5. The Kingshouse Hotel
The stunning Kingshouse Hotel sits alone on the edge of Rannoch Moor, in a dramatic spot overlooking iconic Buachaille Etive Mòr. Expect to see stags roaming in the gardens and feel a real connection to the wilderness and beauty of Glencoe.
The rooms range from cosy to luxurious signature options and offer spectacular views from oversized windows. Downstairs, the restaurant serves delicious Scottish dishes, and the bar is a lively spot for guests and walkers alike.
This is an experiential stay and one I highly recommend.
6. Ardno House B&B
With only two double bedrooms, Ardno House B&B offers an intimate and cosy stay in a more rural spot near Glencoe. Rooms are comfy and spacious, with private bathrooms. Guests can unwind in the shared lounge or spend the evening watching the sunset from the garden with loch views. There’s no eatery here, so factor that into your plans.
7. Highland Croft B&B
Situated a few miles outside of Glencoe, right on the waterfront, Highland Croft B&B has excellent reviews. Guests especially mentioned the hearty breakfast and friendly owners, and they loved the simple but cosy rooms.
And, of course, the cute animals that share this working croft! The real winner is the location - with views over the loch and the surrounding mountains, this small stay delivers a serene and homely experience. There’s no eatery here, but Fort William’s restaurants are a 20-minute drive away.

Be sure to book in advance because the best hotels sell out fast here, especially in summer.
